Me
I was born in the countryside of Rio de Janeiro, in 1997.
At 12, following my father’s profession at the time and a proximity to technology, I began developing websites and mobile applications. The most notable were SENTA.LA and the apps I developed along 2tap, Split and Acordes.
Closer to 15, I rediscover literature and music. I began then writing songs and planning albums that still didn’t see the light of day. My interest in lyrics and music, the discovery of authors such as João Cabral de Melo Neto and Décio Pignatari, along with other experiences related to this young age, take me invariably to poetry.
At 19, questioned about which professional path to take and without the clarity to make this decision, as so often happens to youngsters, I decide to apply to the International Business and Languages course at the University of Applied Sciences of Rotterdam. My interest for languages and the possibility of a career in Foreign Relations based this decision.
Life in Rotterdam, the discovery of Alejandro Jodorowsky and Kléber Mendonça Filho, befriending Brazilian musicians there and the persistence of my interest for poetry, slowly showed me that a career in Business would not really work. I return to Brazil decide to study Film and to make a way at it parallel to the poetry I used to write and still do.
I start studying Cinema in São Paulo, at the Instituto de Cinema. Thinking about the complicated time Brazilian film industry would face under the current government, I applied to the Film and Television course at ETIC, in Lisbon.
I finish the course and publish Novelo, in June 2020. Given all that has happened in this year, I return to Brazil and am now looking for the next thing.
